what we do
ELA has been providing real home cooked take away food in Chamonix since July 2021. We are commited to doing as much as possible in house. From making all of our own bread, to preparing all of our vegetables and making all of our sauces. We approach the fast food market from a restaurant perspective.
Almost all dietary choices and requirements are catered for on our menu. The vegan and vegetarian options on our menu are not there as an afterthought, they are options that happen to fill those niches, not relying on heavily processed meat free options. Dishes to be enjoyed by carnivores and vegetarians alike.
To keep things interesting, both for us and our customers, we reguarly change our marinades, meats and salads. We rotate between 4/5 different chicken marinades, and constantly change our "SPECIAL" option. There are a few regulars in rotation, but we like to mix it up and occasionally offer something from outside the Mediterranean influence.
We try our best to only use and sell products from smaller independent brands and companies with a good ethical standing.
Catering services
Asides from the daily take away service we provide in the shop, we also offer a catering service, where we specialize in creating delicious and convenient meal options for any occasion. Whether you’re planning a casual buffet, need packed lunches for a hiking adventure, or want a dinner that can be easily reheated later, we can help. Our menus feature fresh and healthy options, all made in house, and we are able to create menus which cater to your specific needs and preferences. Get in touch to find out how we can help.

our story
ELA opened it's doors in July 2021, to fill a niche of fast and healthy homemade take away food in Chamonix. Chef/Owner Stefan Sofroniou had been living in chamonix for around 10 years, and after working at and running a few different kitchens around town, had always toyed with the idea of running his own place. Born from years of casual conversations with friends and locals about foods that were missed since moving to the Alpine town, the plans for ELA only really formulated during the CoVid pandemic. The first few months of the 20/21 winter offered great snow, and awesome conditions for touring, which made for a pretty unique period of riding in the Chamonix valley with no lift access available. As temperatures increased, and lower altitude snow started to disappear, the touring slowed down, and Stef found himself with a lot more time on his hands then he was used to. This, combined with the fact that he had been forcibly out of work for nearly 6 of the last 12 months, and a couple of well timed messages from business owning friends in the valley, was the push he needed. The next few months were a bit of a blur, as meetings with banks, accountants and lawyers; recipe development; calling in favours from talented friends; and generally running around like a headless chicken to try and get everything sorted for the upcoming summer season became the norm. After a shaky first year, with the after effects of the pandemic still lingering, and trying to work out how to actually run a business, ELA started to find its feet. This was massively due to support from locals, who continue to be the foundations of our business. We are proud of where we have got to. We have worked hard for it, and are eternally grateful for the support of locals and tourist alike. We love doing what we do, and we hope that shows in our products.
